biography

Topic

Adam Christie is an award winning stand-up comedian, writer, and actor who has appeared on the television shows Schitt’s Creek and What We Do in the Shadows. He is the former head writer of This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and won a Canadian Screen Award for his work on CBC’s Baroness Von Sketch Show. Exclaim Magazine called him ‘one of the most compelling acts in Canada’.

In 2019, Adam won the Sirius XM Top Comic competition, which landed him $25,000 and a spot at Just for Laughs Sydney, where he performed three shows at the world famous Sydney Opera House. That same year Adam released his debut comedy album ‘General Anxiety Disorder’, which was nominated for a Juno award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Album.

Adam got his start in television hosting two seasons of the kids game show ZOINK’D on YTV. This earned him a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Host in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. He then went on to host the YTV interstitial programs The Zone and The Zone Weekend for three years.

He's also a favourite on the festival and squeaky-clean corporate circuit. Able to tailor his act to suit any situation, Adam has performed on CBC Radio tapings, at private fundraisers, company holiday parties, comedy festival galas, and has done crowd warm-up for over 100 episodes of television.

In November he will head across the country on a national theatre tour, and next March will tape his very first comedy special in Toronto.

testimonials

Rounding out the late night show with astoundingly accurate self-deprecating jokes and impressively high energy, Adam Christie proved himself to be the best of the night. The comedian is well-aware that he looks like both "a poor man's John Mulaney" and "Cashier #2," but he has just as many scathing criticisms of himself as he does about the world around him. Christie is insightful, high-octane, and uproariously funny.

Exclaim

“Taking home the top prize of the evening, Adam Christie proved himself to be one of the most compelling acts in Canada. The comedian gave his set incredible energy and kept the audience shrieking through offbeat lines about parent lip-kissers, divorce and writing paid sex off on his taxes. Christie's career is on the rise, and his Top Comic victory is just validation of that. Keep an eye on this one.”
